Gouveia Vineyard Engagement | Stephanie & Matthew

Published in Engagements
Stephanie and Matthew met when recess was the highlight of their day and when they probably both thought the other had cooties. Yes, these two met 21 years ago in FIRST GRADE! Can you believe that?! Fast forward to eighth grade when they would eat lunch together each day and Matthew became, as Stephanie put it, her first stay-up-and-talk-on-the-phone-all-night boyfriend. Their paths diverged in high school but through the years they always seemed to cross again. Then a few years ago in 2013 their paths came together one last time and would be inseparable!

For their engagement session we spent the sunset hour at one of my favorite places around here in the fall, Gouveia Vineyards. The leaves changing into colors of brilliance, the geese flying in formations overhead, that golden sunset light and that crisp New England fall air never cease to amaze. And let me tell you, hanging out with them and photographing their love made my heart so very full.

I don't know who said the quote, but it goes something like "They told me that to make her fall in love I had to make her laugh. But every time she laughs I'm the one who falls in love." Oh how this quote reminds me so very much of Stephanie and Matthew! Matthew is constantly making Stephanie laugh in a way that no one else can, and you can see she can't help but beam and fall more head over heels for him. In turn, with each laugh and smile you can see it written all over Matthew's face that he cherishes her so very much and his love for her only grows.

It takes very little imagination to know their life together is going to be filled with so many beautiful memories, love and laughter! I can't wait for their wedding next spring at the gorgeous Oheka Castle!

Connecticut Sunset Engagement | Stephanie & Ryan

Published in Engagements
When two hearts that are so obviously meant for each other finally find one another in this great big world, it's an amazing thing to witness. When they are so in love that it brings tears to their eyes just thinking about the day when they will commit their lives to one another, you can't help but just watch, listen and let your heart overflow with theirs. It's in moments like this I find myself taking too many photos with a ridiculously huge smile on my face and the disbelief that I get to photograph moments and hearts like these...

This is exact how I felt spending time with Stephanie and Ryan. As they popped the champagne bottle they had been given to celebrate their engagement, they couldn't help but get caught up in one another's eyes and tell each other how truly and completely happy they were and how much they loved one another. Just like the celebratory champagne sprayed and lit up like a shower of magical gold sparkles in the sunset light, the connection and love these two have is beautiful and overflows from both of them. These two are one of those couples people are drawn to and just want to be around... They are funny, kind, and have such a zest for life!

And it must be said, friends successfully playing matchmaker is alive and well and these two are the proof! Stephanie's roommate was dating Ryan's best friend and decided to set her and Ryan up. These matchmakers knew what they are doing bringing these two together, because over seven years later they are engaged and can't wait for their next chapter as husband and wife!

Here are just a few of my favorites from their beautiful beach engagement session... :)

New England Beach Engagement | Rachel & Mike

Published in Engagements
After a stretch of wet weather over the past few days before their session that would make anyone living here on the Connecticut coast feel like they lived in Seattle instead, the day we headed to the beach for their engagement session was perfection. There was a sunset bursting with pastel hues of pink, purple and gold that looked like it was taken right out of a painting and splashed across the sky, seeping into the water below. It was one of those warm summer nights at the beach that you hope never end, but especially when you are hanging out with such a sweet couple and their seriously adorable puppy golden retriever!

Rachel and Mike held hands and walked along the water's edge, letting their toes sink into the sandbar. They left behind a trail of footprints that would soon be erased by the incoming tide. Watching them, you can't help but smile seeing how these two best friends are clearly the love of each other's lives. As they leaned into one another they were full of smiles as they soaked in the quiet moments of just being together. The anticipation and excitement for the promise they will be making on their wedding day swirled in the air and floated up into the painting above. What a joy it was to spend time with these two and their insanely cute pup Reese!

Newport Engagement Session | Janelle + Mike

Published in Engagements
Janelle loves the holiday season and everything that comes with it! She always wanted to go all out for a Christmas, decorating to the nines will all things red, green and sparkle... all things that just make it feel like Christmas time around the home. At the time both Janelle and Mike's apartments were too small for her big d├ęcor dreams so when they bought their house, they went all in with decorating with a beautiful tree, green garland and twinkling lights!

Both of their families have the sweet tradition of exchanging ornaments with one another each year at Christmas time. So after the tree was lit and decorated with ornaments from years past that adorned each branch with sentimental memories, Mike handed Janelle her ornament gift for that year. As she opened the box, instead of an ornament she found the most gorgeous diamond ring! She was in SHOCK. She opened the box, saw the ring and immediately closed it. Then she opened it again slowly in complete disbelief! As the meaning and the promise that the ring signified began to sink in, Mike asked Janelle to spend the rest of her life with him!

For their engagement session, we headed to one of their favorite places to visit, Newport RI which is also where their beautiful wedding is going to take place next year! We can't wait! Here are a few of my favorites from their session!

Gouveia Engagement Session | Brittany & Alex

Published in Engagements
The next day they were leaving for a trip, however only Alex really knew where they were going... Brittany thought they were going to spend a nice long weekend in Napa Valley where they would do some wine tasting, drive through the rolling hills, and soak in the California sunshine. But Alex had another plan in mind all together, something up his sleeve that was waaaaay better. He had a very important question he was going to ask Brittany and had purchased two round-trip tickets from their home in San Francisco to New York.

That evening Alex asked Brittany if she would spend the rest of her life with him and proposed in their apartment! It was private, romantic and simply perfect! Being that Brittany is so close with her family, Alex knew she would love to share the good news of their engagement and celebrate with them in person. So he surprised her and told her that they actually weren't going to Napa Valley, buuuut were flying into New York and driving to Connecticut to be with her family for a few days. I mean, how sweet and thoughtful is that?! Not to mention talk about winning major brownie points with Brittany's parents (not that he needed any!). That weekend on the east coast was a far cry from warm sunny California with record below freezing temperatures, but it was exactly where they were supposed to be. It was such an exciting and fun time with friends and family as they looked forward to this next chapter of their lives!

Oh you guys, I had such an awesome time with these two! Brittany and Alex are two people that literally would have fun doing anything together, as long as they were together. There is no shortage of laugher between them and it's the kind of laughter that's so contagious! And how adorable is their pup Guinness?! With this Guinness, apparently it's always happy hour! I swear their little pup was totally ready for his close up in front of the camera with the biggest grin you ever did see!

Here are a few of my favorites from their vineyard engagement session! I'm already counting down the months until their wedding next year!
